Introduction to carpentry material types

3 main parts/ materials will be used i.e. carcass body, surface material or door type. 

1. carcass body 


solid wood carcass 实木 , Extremely durable , expensive, very good moisture resistance 非常耐 ， 贵 ，耐潮性较好


solid plywood carcass 夹板/实板/细芯板 , durable , normal , good moisture resistance 耐 ，普通 ， 耐潮性好


blockboard carcass 大芯板 , durable , normal, good moisture resistance 耐 ， 普通 ， 耐潮性好


MDF (E1 / 中、高密度纖維板) ， Not durable , cheap , bad moisture resistance 不耐 ， 便宜 ， 耐潮性差


chipboard carcass 刨花板 / 蔗渣板 , Not durable , cheap , bad moisture resistance 不耐 ， 便宜 ， 耐潮性差


2. surface

Very expensive - spray painted - high gloss - no edge lining, but will get scratches
expensive - spray paint - matte - no edge lining, but will get scratches
expensive - wood veneer with lacquer or shellac - no edge lining, but will get scratches
reasonable - laminate - not easily scratch but got edge lining

3. Door type 

3G/4G colour glass door - not easily scratch, highly reflective, expensive
